You get what you pay for !
Recently one of of our users took an Air Asia X flight between Sydney and Kuala Lumpur. Here is how it went.
I fly with Air Asia regularly so thought I’d give a good overall review.
Pre-Boarding
The lounges are typical airport lounges. Adequate and did the job. Plenty of food and coffee outlets with the usual over priced items one would expect.
The crew gathered, smartly dressed and jovial.
Upon check in we were told that the flight would board at 10.00am. Boarding was delayed by 1/2 hour for no apparent reason. No voice overs or communication by the outsourced ground handelers.
Boarding was efficient and passengers were greeted by the usual flight attendant smile and direction.
Always robotic, but does the trick. As ex cabin crew I always found the way to try to connect with passengers whilst boarding but it seams to be a lost art. The aircraft had been somewhat cleaned. But with a low cost carrier, you get what you paid for.
Pre departure
Announcements were pre recorded, bi lingual and clear and concise.
Crew were relatively scarce during the entire boarding procedure.
In-Flight Experience
We departed 10 minutes earlier than scheduled. A couple of young parents with a big family had an infant that has screamed from the top of its lungs since boarding and we are now two hours into the flight. Vastly ignored by the crew.
The usual meal and drink service were mechanically carried out and the predisposed jovial crew had vanished. Not a smile to be seen and one could say, not a happy crew. Missed the drinks trolly as it flew by so reluctantly I pressed my call button to obtain a much needed birthday drink. 10minutes later (on an empty flight).
I was told to wait for the return of the trolly as it was at the back of the aircraft. A further 15 minutes later they arrived. A smaller than usual bottle of wine but it was enough for a taste.
Throughout the flight the crew wandered through. I’m assuming they had time on their hands.
A decent landing into Kuala Lumpur (15 minutes early), and a brisk good buy and one of those cabin crew smiles to see us on our way.
Can’t complain, we got to our destination safely. I’ve had better flights and worse ones. Cheap, no fuss and no frills!
